Mail Retrieval Scheduler
Active Mail allows you to schedule the download of e-mail
using custom-defined schedules. For example, you can configure
Active Mail to download e-mail every morning at 7:30am, and
have your e-mail ready on your phone at the start of the day.
Or configure Active Mail to check for new e-mail every 15mins,
and always be up-to-date with the latest e-mail.
With the scheduler you have the option to define which components
of the email will be downloaded (i.e. headers, message body,
and attachments) depending on size. You can also define more
advanced rules to determine which emails are downloaded and
which are automatically deleted (see Mail retrieval rules
below).

Mail Retrieval Rules
Active Mails retrieval rules are designed to emulate
the decision making processing you use when manually deciding
which e-mails to download. Rules can be defined to determine
which e-mails are downloaded based on sender, subject, size,
and priority. You can also define rules to automatically delete
e-mails based on the same criteria, thus helping to manage
spam.
The mail retrieval rules are applied no matter which of the
Active Mail download options is employed (i.e. the scheduler,
notification processing, or manual download).

SMS Notifications Processing
If your e-mail services provide a feature where you are notified
by SMS when new e-mails are available in their inbox, Active
Mail can process these notifications. Upon receipt of such
a notification Active Mail will automatically connect to your
e-mail service and download the new mail.

Marking Mail Headers for Full Download
Often when you receive a large e-mail you may wish to have
that email available locally on your phone, but do not wish
to take the time to manually download the email. The Active
Mail message browser displays all e-mails which have not yet
been fully downloaded. Through the browser you can mark those
e-mails that you wish to download the next time you check
your email (e.g. via the scheduler).
Note: The Active Mail message browser displays the
message size, so you can judge the potential time required
to download an email.

Manual Mail Retrieval
In addition to the automated e-mail retrieval options previously
described, Active Mail supports manual (interactive) download
of e-mail. By using Active Mail to download e-mail in this
way you take advantage of the retrieval rules defined within
Active Mail.
Active Mail also provides a command to download mail from
all configured e-mail accounts, thus greatly decreasing the
effort required to manage multiple e-mail accounts.
