An end to the divide between
on and offline data services
Le Journal de Telecoms, 11th February 2005
Increasing ARPU, average revenue per user, is Cibenix's goal. "Awareness of data services among end users is very low and accessing these services still isn’t intuitive" explain Cibenix.
The solution is proposed in the form of a joint client-server product. On the client side, an interface gives easier access to WAP, web and i-mode portals. The content portal is replicated (partially or fully) on the user’s handset, meaning that the user is now no more than one click away from the content he/she is looking for. This means that there is now no need to launch an application such as a browser or a dialler. The barrier between on and offline disappears.
The cherry on the cake for the operator is the capacity to send advertising banners and other teasers to the user’s handset. On the server side, the offer includes a complete administrative tool (updating the client database and management of information sent according to client preferences) which is integrated with the Customer Care system of the operator. ONE Austria and four other European operators have already been convinced of the system’s merits.
