An Tanaiste opens new Cibenix headquarters
Dublin, Ireland, 23rd September 2004: An Tanaiste, Mary
Harney TD performs the official opening of the new Cibenix offices
at the Digital Depot, part of the Digital Hub in Dublin.
Cibenix has seen remarkable growth from its founding in 2001 when
it started developing software specifically for the emerging Symbian
smart phone market. The company specialises in handset resident
software that allows the mobile operator to promote data services
directly on the phone, and is recognised as one of the leading providers
of smart phone software worldwide.
Among its customers, Cibenix counts leading handset manufacturers
and international network operators, recently acquiring a high profile
multinational operator as a licensee of Cibenixs software
platform. The company has also received significant financial backing,
having closed a first round VC investment from EVP, Enterprise Ireland,
and the Dublin Seed Capital Fund in May 2004.
Cibenix has shown once again how innovative Irish Technology
companies can be successful in the European market, said An
Tanaiste, Mary Harney. The company has succeeded on multiple
occasions to win business against strong international competition
and is testament to the companys capacity to grow and expand
within a highly competitive market.
Cibenix is a company EVP have great belief in, said
Gerry Jones, Cibenix Chairman and EVP Partner, the venture fund
that led the recent funding in Cibenix. Their unique technology
is delivering real value to the network operator, enabling the realisation
of significant revenue growth from mobile data services.
About Cibenix
Cibenix has been a leading provider of software solutions for mobile
devices since 2001, with deep expertise in both the Symbian and
Java platforms. Cibenix provides products for the mobile operator
market. The companys award-winning products, which allow users
and operators to customise and personalise their mobile devices,
are installed on tens of thousands of mobile devices across the
globe in multiple languages. Cibenix is based at the Digital Hub

find and preview data services in an efficient and comfortable offline
mode, going online to access and consume those services. This offline
promotion and browsing model combined with dynamically updateable
content, leads to a more satisfying experience for the subscriber
and as a direct consequence increases the usage of data services
and operator revenue.
