Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS, the de facto industry standard operating system for data-enabled mobile phones. Symbian has licensed Symbian OS to the world's top handset manufacturers including Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Siemens and Sony Ericsson. In total, Symbian OS licensees account for more than 80% of worldwide mobile phone sales.

Cibenix is a member of the Symbian Platinum Partner Program, which is aimed at companies with a technology, service or strategic position that is key to the success of Symbian OS phones in the market. The program allows Cibenix to benefit from a range of Symbian products and services that assist in designing highly integrated hardware and software solutions for Symbian OS.

The commercial services available to Symbian Platinum Partners include technical support and joint marketing opportunities. Symbian Platinum Partners also get early access to the Symbian OS Development Kit™ which incorporates source code, test code, internal documentation, kernel and device driver programming interfaces and ROM building tools. Membership of the Symbian Platinum Partnership provides Cibenix with additional access to non-technical support including advice and feedback on product demonstrations and product marketing.

Cibenix software has also been validated by Symbian Signed, the industry-endorsed application signing program that promotes best practise in Symbian OS content and application development. This program tests applications against industry-agreed criteria in support of network operator and mobile manufacturer requirements. Symbian Signed is designed to satisfy mobile developers' needs and ensures a thriving, open market for trusted mobile applications by providing a single, low-cost and unified certification program.
