Overview
Active Desk is the ideal solution to personalise and customise
your Sony Ericsson P800/900 imaging phone.
Active Desk allows you to fully customise the display - including
choosing wallpapers ("skins") and text colours.
Active Desk provides information and feature rich, customisable
views of the key information stored on your Sony Ericsson
P800/900. Each view can include calendar entries, tasks, messages,
and favourites but you can configure which items you want
to display on each view. For example, if you don't use Tasks
or Favourites you can turn these off in the view settings,
freeing up additional space for calendar entries and messaging.
You can also increase or decrease the number of rows you want
displayed. You can also decide to only show mailboxes if there
are new messages. Additionally, Active Desk allows you to
create new views, and to fully configure their contents and
display settings. This combination of customisation and personalisation
makes Active Desk the essential add-on for the Sony Ericsson
P800/900.
Active Desk and the Sony Ericsson P800/900 take personalisation
to a new level. Capture the moment with the built-in camera,
and immediately use the images as a wallpaper in Active Desk.
A different wallpaper can be set for each view you create
in the application, increasing the level of personalisation
possible. Additionally, each view can have a different set
of six favourites to launch i.e. if you use three views of
your data, you can have eighteen different favourites.
Active Desk is best used as a "home" application.
After the installation of Active Desk, we recommend that you
to add it to the list of system shortcuts at the top of the
screen. To do this choose 'View-Preferences' from the 'Applications'
program of the Sony Ericsson P800/900, and set one of the
applications as Active Desk. Then you will be able to run
and return to the Active Desk simply by clicking on the Active
Desk icon at the top of the screen.

Version 2.0 Enhancements:
• Active Desk can be set in Preferences to start when
the phone is reset, to be activated when the flip of the phone
is opened, and to be launched using the Internet or Camera
button.
• Background colour behind Favourites removed so that
you see more of the background image
• An Active Desk tools menu has been added to the bottom
right of the Favourites row. Click on the wheel icon at the
right of the Favourites row and slide across to open a Task
Manager, Storage details, and a phone lock for use when the
flip is off.
• The Task Manager can also be configured in Preferences
to open using the camera or internet button. This is useful
to allow you to switch tasks and manage internal memory resources
easily. Internal memory / RAM usage is displayed here.
• The Storage details include internal and external
data (i.e. memory card) usage
• The Phone lock is designed for flip-off usage of
the P800/900. In this mode, tapping on the screen or moving
the jogdial can be quickly locked and unlocked.
• Messages can be displayed at top or at bottom in
any view. Change this setting for a specific view in View
Settings - Messages.
• Clicking on the time takes you to the time display
so that you can quickly change times and set alarms
• Tapping on the screen on the Calendar icon, Tasks
icon, and individual messaging icons opens a new entry of
this type
• A New Contact option has been added to the Active
Desk menu
• A sound can be set to play at start up of the phone.
• 'Only future events' can be set in Calendar so that
appointments that are over move off the screen display.
Languages
Active Desk is now available in English, US English, French,
Italian, Dutch, German, Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish.
